words like altogether, joined, combined, total, etc. These all mean addition. Let us learn
through few examples.

Let's Try

Example 1: For the fi rst show of a movie, 1321 tickets were sold. For the second show,
2317 tickets were sold. What was the total number of tickets sold?

Solution: Tickets sold for fi rst show = 1321 Th H T O

Tickets sold for second show = 2317 1 3 2 1

Total number of tickets sold = 1321 + 2317 + 2 3 1 7
