Conversion

Rupees into Paise
We know that one rupee is equal to one hundred paise. 1 rupee = 100 paise

� To convert rupees into paise, we multiply the given amount by 100.
� To convert rupees and paise into paise, we multiply the given rupees amount by
100 and add it to the number of paise.

Let’s Attempt

Example 1: Convert ` 48 into paise. Example 2: Convert ` 5 into paise.
Solution: ` 48 = 48 × 100 p = 4800 p Solution: ` 5 = 5 × 100 p = 500 p

Example 3: Convert ` 8.75 into paise. Fact-o-meter
Solution: ` 8.75 = 8 rupees 75 paise To convert rupees into

= 8 rupees + 75 paise paise. Just remove the
= (8 × 100) paise + 75 paise point or dot (.)
= 800 paise + 75 paise = 875 paise

Paise into rupees

To convert paise into rupees, we divide the given amount by 100.

Let’s Attempt

Example 1: Convert 200 p into rupees.
Solution: 200 p = ` (200 ÷ 100) = ` 2
