Money
Money is used to buy things.

In India, we count money in Rupees and Paise. It comes in two forms—currency notes
and coins (made of metal).

Coins

50 p coin ` 1 coin ` 2 coin ` 5 coin ` 10 coin

Notes

` 5 note ` 10 note ` 20 note ` 50 note

` 100 note ` 200 note ` 500 note

Expressing Money in Words

We can express money in words also.
For example, ` 51.75 can be written as fifty-one rupees and seventy-five paise.

Expressing Money in Figures

To write money in figures, we use ‘.’ (dot) for separating the rupees and paise.
For example, 45 rupees 35 paise is written as
` 45.35 and 19 rupees 80 paise is written as ` 19.80. Fact-o-meter

To write paise only, we put rupees as 0. Always write 6 rupees 5 paise as
` 6.05 and not as ` 6.5. Remember,
For example, 75 paise is written as ` 0.75. paise will be expressed in 2-digit

number. We must always write it
in two digits.
