2. Write the standard form for the following expansions.
(a) 70000 + 4000 + 200 + 50 + 6 (b) 30000 + 6000 + 500 + 70 + 8
(c) 60000 + 7000 + 800 + 90 + 1 (d) 80000 + 50 + 6
Comparing Numbers
To find the greater or smaller number, we follow these steps:
If number of digits in two numbers are different, then number with more digits is greater.
If number of digits in two numbers are same, then:
X to compare numbers, compare their digits from left to right, that is, from the highest
place value to ones.
X if the digits at a place are equal, compare the digits at the next place on the right.
Let’s Attempt
Example 1: Compare 22002 and 2299.
Solution: 22002 is a 5-digit number and 2299 is a 4-digit number.
Thus, 22002 > 2299
Example 2: Compare 35783 and 35873.
Solution: Both the numbers have 5-digits.
