• Working with Multiple Sprites • Changing Costume of a Sprite
• Changing Backdrop of Stage • Working with Sounds
Scratch teaches you the basics of programming in a fun and visual way. You have
learned about the different blocks in Scratch 3 that are used to program a sprite
in a project. Let us now learn about adding multiple sprites to a project, changing
costumes of a sprite, changing backdrop of Stage, adding sounds, and combining all
elements to create even more interesting projects.
WORKING WITH MULTIPLE SPRITES
Scratch allows you to work with more than one sprite in a project. Each sprite needs
to be programmed separately to perform specific actions. You can add and delete
sprites from a project as required.
Adding a New Sprite
By default, every new Scratch project starts with one sprite – the Cat. You can add
new sprites using the Choose a Sprite button in the Sprite Info pane. You can select a
sprite from the library, create a new sprite, or upload a picture file from the computer
as a sprite.
To add a new sprite:
1. Move the mouse over the Choose a
Sprite button in the Sprites Info
pane.
A list of options pops up.
2. Select the Choose a Sprite option.
The Sprites Library opens. It displays
various sprites grouped under
different categories and themes. 3
