Some influences that improve non-verbal communication are:

u Body language: Body language and posture conveys your
emotional state and shows if you are interested in present
conversation. For example, someone who slouches appears
             disinterested during conversation.

u Facial expressions: A person with good expressions can
             communicate better.

u Appearance: Appearance is an important criterion for non-
verbal communication. An outfit conveys a strong message
             about personality.

u Culture: Different cultures have varying gestures and postures that have different meanings attached to
it. Even simple things like using finger to point, wave, or count differ. For example, in the US people usually
point with the index finger. In India, it is considered rude.
        In our day-to-day communication,

u 55% communication is done using face, arms, body movements, etc.
u 38% communication is done using tone, voice, pauses, etc.
u only 7% communication is done using words.

Around 93% of our communication is non-verbal. Certain examples of communicating
with tone of voice, expressions and body language.

u Body movements like hand gestures, nodding, Body
shaking the hand arm-crossing, and leg- Physiological Movements Eye Contact
crossing. They also reflect the feelings and Changes
attitude. For example, nodding with a smile Facial
conveys you are agreeable to the idea. Expressions Non-Verbal Posture

u Eye contact communicates the level of Communication
             involvement, interest and warmth. It
determines the level of trust and Proxemic Para- Gestures
trustworthiness. Staring and blinking are Language
             essential non-verbal behaviours. Looking at
another person can indicate a range of emotions
including hostility, interest, and attraction. Normal steady eye contact is often perceived as a sign that a
person is telling the truth and is trustworthy.

u Posture is the way we stand or sit, whether arms are crossed, and
so on. A gesture is any physical movement that helps to express
an idea, opinion or emotion. For example: talking to someone
with arms crossed may indicate your rigid attitude.

u Gestures are the deliberate body movements that help in
communication. For example, waving the hand means saying
good bye or biting the nails indicate you are nervous.

u Para-language is the language of gestures, expressions, and
postures, voice tone, pausing, volume, inflection, pitch and
speech. For example, a high-pitch voice tone may indicate
             aggressiveness.
