Indian Sports
Sports and games have always been an integral part of India’s rich culture and history.
Read the descriptions and write the names of the sports using the Help Box.
1. ____________________ Meaning of this sport's name translate to
‘wrestling on a pole’. It is an ancient form of martial arts intended as a
training aid for wrestlers and warriors.
2. ____________________ is a contact sport, played between two teams.
The objective of the game is for a single player on offence, to run into
the opposing team's half, and touch out as many of their defenders as
possible, and return to their own half of the court, all without being
tackled and stopped by the defenders.
3. ____________________ is played as a part of Pongal. A bull released into
a crowd of people, and multiple participants try to grab the horns or the
hump on the bull’s back while the bull tries to escape.
4. ____________________ is one of the oldest sports in India and dates back
to the prehistoric period, or around 4,000 BC. Kushti is distinct from free-
style wrestling.
5. ____________________ involves a ball and a pile of stones, usually seven.
There are two teams of players. One player of the attacking team needs

Then the whole team has to try and restore the pile before being hit by
