Status Bar
The Status Bar at the bottom of the window displays the total number of items in the current location.
It also displays the shortcut buttons for the Thumbnails view and the Details view.

Viewing Contents of a File / Folder
You can view the contents of the files and folders stored on your
computer. 2
To view the contents of a file/folder:
1. Select a folder from the Navigation pane.
The contents of the folder are displayed in the Contents pane.
2. Double-click a file/folder icon in the Contents pane. 1
The file/folder opens in the associated program.
Knowledge Discovery Subject Enrichment
The Quick access section displays your frequently used folders and
files so that you can access them quickly. To add a folder to the Quick
access list, open the folder, right-click the Quick access option, and
select the Pin current folder to Quick access option from the menu
that opens. The folder is displayed under Quick access.
Selecting a File/Folder 2
Before using File Explorer to do any work with a
file/folder, you need to select the file/folder so that
Windows may know which one you want to work with.
To select a single file/folder:
1. Open the folder containing the file/folder. 1
2. Click the file/folder.
The file/folder gets selected.
2 To select multiple files/folders:
1. Open the folder containing the files/folders.
2. Click the first file/folder you want to select.
3. Press and hold the Ctrl key and click each of
1 the other files/folders you want to select.
The files/folders get selected.

To select a group of files/folders:
1. Open the folder containing the files/folders. 2
2. Position the mouse slightly above and to the
left of the first file/folder in the group.
3. Click and drag the mouse down and to the right 1
until all files/folders in the group are selected.
The files/folders get selected.
