Supercomputers
Supercomputers are the fastest and most powerful type of computers. A supercomputer
is huge in size, with thousands of microprocessors working together. It has an extremely

large storage capacity with very high processing speed. It can process trillions of
instructions per second.

Supercomputers are used for specialised applications that require complex numerical
computations, such as train networks, weather forecasting, medical research, code
breaking, and geological exploration.

The world’s fastest supercomputer is Fugaku, developed by Japan, followed by IBM
Summit. Indian scientists have developed supercomputers including Param Yuva II,
Param Siddhi AI and Pratyush.
