Minicomputers
Minicomputers are medium-sized, multi-user computers with more than one
microprocessor. A minicomputer has a larger storage capacity and better networking
capabilities than a microcomputer. About 200 users can access it at the same time.
Minicomputers are used for scientific and engineering computations, business
transactions, large documents handling, and database management tasks. Some
examples of minicomputers are DATA GENERAL NOVA, DEC PDP-8, and HP 3000.

Mainframe Computers
Mainframe computers are large-size computers with multiple microprocessors for
different tasks. It can support thousands of users simultaneously. Mainframes can run
multiple operating systems at the same time and provide services to a variety of users.
Mainframe computers are used in organisations, such as Internet servers, banks,
airlines, and online shopping sites where many users need access to shared data and
programs at a high speed without any delay. IBM z10 and Cray XMP-24 are examples
of mainframe computers.
