using AI-assisted navigation.
• 2006: Companies like Facebook, Twitter, and Netflix also started using AI.
THE CURRENT SCENARIO (2011-PRESENT)
The period after 2010 saw unprecedented growth in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
AI also became affordable for the common man in the form of intelligent and smart
devices.
• 2011: IBM’s Watson won Jeopardy, a quiz show, where it had to solve complex
questions as well as riddles. Watson proved that it could understand natural
language and solve tricky questions quickly.
Apple launched Siri, a digital assistant for iPhones and iPods.
• 2012: Google launched the Android app feature Google now, which was able
to provide information to the user by making predictions based on search and
browsing history.
• 2014: The chatbot Eugene Goostman won a competition in the Turing test.
Microsoft launched Cortana, their productivity assistant for the Windows 10
range of personal computers, smartphones, and tablet computers.
Amazon launched Alexa, their virtual assistant, for the Amazon Echo series of
smart devices.
