Android
Android is a mobile operating system developed by Google. It is based on a modifi ed version
of the Linux kernel and other open source software, and is designed primarily for touchscreen
mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. It is the most popular and commonly used
mobile operating system.
iOS
iOS (formerly iPhone OS) is a mobile operating system created and developed by Apple Inc.
exclusively for its hardware. It is the operating system that presently powers many of the
company’s mobile devices, including the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. It is the second most
popular mobile operating system globally after Android.
Introduction to Windows
Windows is one of the most commonly used operating systems
developed by Microsoft. The reason for the popularity of this
operating system is its GUI (Graphical User Interface) environment
which is very easy to use and handle. Being a multitasking
operating system, it allows the user to work simultanously with
two or more applications.
Initially, Windows was introduced in 1985 by the name Windows

environment. At that time, MS DOS was the most used operating (Founders of Microsoft)
system software which had a CUI (Character User Interface)
environment. The fi rst version of the Windows Operating System named Windows 95 was released in 1995.
Because of its user friendly interface, soon it became very popular specially among the home users. Later on,
many different versions of Windows were launched like Windows 98, Windows 2000 server, Windows NT,
Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10 and Windows 11.
