Speakers
Speakers are the output devices used to get audio output. They can be used to play
the music or sound fi les stored in the computer. Some computers, like laptops come
with inbuilt speakers, whereas in others these are connected externally with the
help of sound cards attached to part to the motherboard. Sound card converts the
electrical signals to sound waves which are played by the speakers.
Projector
A projector is a device that displays videos, images or text on a larger screen. The
projector is connected to a computer which displays the image on a fl at white
surface, like a screen or a board. It is widely used while giving presentations.
The main types of projectors are LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) projector, DLP
(Digital Light Processing) projector, LED Projector and 4K Projector.
Storage Devices
Computer stores data in devices called memory devices or storage devices. These devices store information/
data to process the result of any computational work. Without a storage device, a computer would not be able
to run or even boot up.A storage device is hardware that is used for storing, porting, or extracting data fi les. It
can also store information/data both temporarily and permanently.
ROM RAM Pendrive Hard disk DVD SSD
There are two types of memory devices –Primary memory devices and Secondary memory devices.
Computer Memory
Primary Memory Secondary Memory

Primary Memory Devices
Primary memory is also known as internal memory or main memory of the computer. CPU can directly read
from and write to this memory. Primary memory is of two types – RAM and ROM.
RAM (Random Access Memory)
It stores data and instructions temporarily. It means that the data is stored in it as long
as the computer is not shut down. When we start the computer, the operating system
is loaded into RAM. Any program that we open is also loaded in RAM. When we
type some text on the computer, it is saved in the RAM. But when we shut down our
computer, RAM gets cleared and everything in it gets erased. So, RAM is a temporary
memory or volatile memory.
