• Presentation is a way of communication between a speaker and the audience.
• Impress is the presentation application of LibreOffi ce Suite and is used to create multimedia presentations.
• Popular presentation applications are: Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Slides, Prezi, LibreOffi ce Impress, Corel and, iWork
Keynote.
• A single page in a presentation may contain text, image, chart, video, etc.
• The default layout of slide is Title layout.
• Slide layouts contain formatting, positioning and placeholders for all the content that appears in the slide.
• A placeholder shows the instructions about how to add contents in it.
• Saving a presentation means saving all the slides present in it as a single fi le.
• The Slide show means presenting all the slides, one by one, on full screen.
• Different views of Impress help us to edit, create and organise our presentation.
• Normal view is the default view in Impress, which is used to create or modify the slides of the presentation.
• The Slide Sorter view shows all the presentation slides as thumbnails.
• In Slide Sorter view, we can insert, delete, copy and move the slide of the presentation.
• The Slide Show view is a full screen presentation that shows the presentation slides on full monitor/projector screen.
• In select consecutive slides use Shift key and for non-consecutive slides use Ctrl Key.
• Duplicate Slide option is used to create a duplicate of a selected slide.
• Formatting of the slides allows you to change Font, size and color of the text.
• Alignment refers to the placement of text within the placeholder.
• To display the list of topics covered on a slide, we create an ordered or unordered list.
• Tables are useful for presenting and organising the data in tabular form.
• In Impress, you can modify the appearance of table as per your choice.
• After inserting a table in a slide, you can to add or delete rows and columns.
• Using Borders, you can improve the appearance of a table.
• The images can be inserted from pictures from a fi le or from the Impress Gallery.
• Shapes are the predesigned fi gures.
• The inserted shapes can be modifi ed by changing their outline colour, fi ll colour or by adding special effects like shadow.
• Grouping makes the selected objects as one object.
• Ungrouping separates the grouped object back to individual objects.
• Master Slide is used to set a customized theme for all the slides or for the slides that use a specifi c layout.
• Transitions are the visual movements that we see when one slide changes into another slide during a slide show.
