Possessive Adjectives

                Possessive adjectives show possession or ownership.
                For example: my book, our journey, your purse, her dress, his pen, their car, its wings, etc.

                Underline the adjectives and state their kind in the given boxes.

                      1.  Rahul has written several stories.

                      2.  A dog is very faithful to its master.

                      3.  Which colour do you prefer?

                      4.  We saw many animals in the zoo.


                      5.  John won the third prize.

                      6.  A small leak is enough to sink a great ship.

                      7.  My father has bought a new car.

                      8.  Neither of the boys has done their homework.

                      9.  There are tall trees on either side of the road.


                    10.  Here are some grapes.

                    11.  There is little water in the bottle.

                  Let’s Learn Position of Adjectives


                Adjectives are usually positioned as given below.
                Most adjectives come before the noun they modify. This is known as the attributive use of
                adjective. They attribute specific traits or qualities to a noun. For example:

                    O    He is a brave boy.                         O    She is a wealthy woman.
              Adjectives  predicatively. For example:               O      He looked worried.
                Some adjectives are placed after verbs. This kind of usage is called adjectives  used as


                         Dola is kind.
                    O

                Adjectives are also placed after words such as something, everything, anything, nothing,
                somebody, anywhere. For example:
                       Let us sit somewhere quiet.
                                                                       I have not done anything extraordinary.

                When two or more adjectives come before a noun, they are usually separated by commas.
                For example:
                       a large, round tub                              a short, fat puppy
