Interchanging the Degrees of Comparison
The degrees of comparison of an adjective can be interchanged in a sentence without
changing its meaning.
A superlative degree can be changed into a comparative degree. For example:
Alen is the tallest boy in the class. (superlative)

Alen is taller than any other boy in the class. (comparative)
O
A comparative degree can be changed into a superlative degree. For example:
Gold is more precious than any other metal. (comparative)
O
Gold is the most precious of all metals. (superlative)
O
A comparative degree can be changed into a positive degree. For example:
India is larger than any other democracy in the world. (comparative)
O
No other democracy in the world is as large as India. (positive)
