An adverb gives more information about a verb. It is used to change or qualify a verb, an
adjective, or another adverb.

Adverbs perform a wide variety of functions by answering the following questions?

� How? He drives carefully.
� When? She always arrives early.

� Where? They go together everywhere.

� How often? He visits us regularly.
� To what extent? It is terribly hot.
These adverbial functions may be accomplished by standalone adverbs or by adverbial
phrases.
