Modal Auxiliaries or Modals:
A modal auxiliary is a verb used to support, empower, and complete the main verb. It has
two variety groups.
Can, could, may , might, will, would

Let’s Learn Auxiliary
When the verbs to be, to have, to do (in their different forms) are used with the main verbs
to make tenses, passive forms, questions, and negatives, they are called auxiliary verbs.
The term ‘auxiliary’ means ‘helping’. Thus, they are also called helping verbs.
Different Forms of Auxiliary Verbs
Auxiliary verbs have three forms.
be
Present — I am looking.
He/She/It is looking.
They/We are looking.
Past — I/He/She/It was looking.
They/We were looking.
Future — They/will be/shall be looking.
have
Present — I have a book.
He/She/It has a book.
They/We have a book.
Past — I/He/She/It had a book.
They/We had a book.
Future — They/will have/shall have a book.
do
Interrogative — Does she live nearby?
Do they go fishing every afternoon?
Negative — They did not know which way to take. Verbs
It did not happen in one day.
Emphatic — I do think it is a good idea!
He does irritate me with his constant chatter.
