Pronouns             Meaning                                          Examples

                 Emphasising          Pronouns  used for emphasis  on the  Herself, Itself
                                      person. This is similar to reflexive but
                                      its usages are different.


                 Possessive           Pronouns indicating belongingness.               Mine,  Yours,  His,  Hers,
                                                                                       Yours, Theirs, Ours

                 Relative             Pronouns which refer back to a noun/             Who, Whom, Which,
                                      pronoun.                                         What, That

                 Interrogative        The pronoun  form  is the  same  as  Who, Whom, Whose,

                                      relative, but the function is different. It  Which, What
                                      is used for asking questions.

                   Activity Time


                  Work in groups of six. Each member of a group will frame a sentence using any of

                  the eight types of pronouns that you’ve learnt. Once the entire group has framed a
                  sentence each, read the sentences aloud in the class. Carry out this activity till all the

                  members of all the groups get a chance to read out their sentence.








                   Listening & Speaking Time


                  The teacher will encourage conversation among students in the classroom. He/She will
                  prompt them to use pronouns as much as possible in their conversation. He/She will call
                  three students A, B and C to the front of the class and give them clues for talking.


              Pronouns              Teacher        :  What are your names?
                  For example:



                                                   :  I am A. He is B. She is C. We are classmates.
                                    Student A



                                                   :  They are my classmates. We are friends.
                                    Student C
                                    Student B      :  You are A and C. We are friends.
                  The same exercise is repeated with the other students of the class.
