                  Let’s Learn Modals


                The verbs may, can, should and must are called modal verbs. These are a type of helping

                or auxiliary verbs, i.e. they are always used with the main verbs. Modals are also called
                modal auxiliaries.


                We  use  modal  verbs or  modals  to  express  different  ways  of  speaking:  formal  and
                informal.



                May

                May is used to express permission in a polite way. For example:

                       May I come in?                                       Yes, you may come.

                May is used to show possibility. For example:


                       The doctor may come tomorrow.
