A preposi� on is a word which links a noun or a pronoun to some other word in a
sentence.
Read the following sentences.
The girl is going to school. He jumped into the pond.
The birds are fl ying in the sky.
In the above sentences, the highlighted words are preposi� ons. They link nouns or
pronouns to the other words in the sentences.

They tell us about the loca� on of a noun or a pronoun. The words in, on, under, in
front of, behind, between, among, near, above, below, over, beside are preposi� ons
of place.
