          Let’s Learn Simple Present Tense

To talk about the ac ons that take place in the present, we use the simple present

        tense.

The words do, take, cook, go, come, rain, eat, play, call, buy, try, fl y, drink, help, write,
teach, sing and dance are verbs. All these verbs are in their root or base forms. Such

verbs are used in the simple present tense.

Observe the use of the root form of the verbs in these sentences.

               I do my work.
            

               We cook food.
            

               You take a bath daily.
            

In the above sentences, the verbs do, cook and take are in their original, simplest

forms. We call these the root forms. Therefore, they are in the simple present

        tense.
