Look at the pictures and read the sentences.












                     A tortoise crawls slowly.                          The Sun shines brightly.

        Here, slowly tells how a tortoise crawls, and brightly tells how the Sun shines.

        So, slowly and brightly are adverbs of manner or how words.

        We often add -ly to adjectives to form adverbs.
