Wild Cats
The wild cats have incredible strength, endurance, and predatory skills. They vary in size from
domestic cats to lions. All cats are carnivores and their homeland ranges from the American continent
to Africa and Asia.
Read the descriptions and write the names of the cat family using the Help Box.
1. This cat has tufted ears, a beard, short head, long legs, and a short
tail. It either lives alone or in small groups. It can climb and swim
as well, and it feeds on birds and small mammals.

2. This is the best climber that spends majority of its life in the high
branches of trees. It carries its prey up into the trees to keep it safe
from other predators. It can run at 36 miles per hour and can jump
up to 10 feet. __________________
3. The coat of this large cat is tawny (light-brown) with black marking.
It enjoys swimming in lakes and rivers. It hunts by stalking its
prey through the tall grass and trees, and then pounces for the kill.

4. This is a small cat with large ears with tufts of fur at the tips. It has
reddish brown fur that helps disguise it so that it can hide from
prey or enemies. __________________
5. This is the second largest cat with a golden brown-coloured coat
and a huge mane around its head and neck. __________________
6. This is the largest member of the big cat family. It has orange and
black markings on its body, which makes it hard to locate in the
wild. __________________
