Rules for Using Pronouns

1. Each pronoun must be of the same number and gender as its noun.

2. A pronoun should not be used unless its noun has been used first.
Karim reads his book.

(a) His book is read by Karim (Incorrect)

(b) Karim’s book is read by him. (Correct)
