Once upon a time there was a girl who was very intelligent and smart. One day she was passing
through the market of her town. Suddenly, her eyes fell on a sweet shop. The flavour of the sweets
made her mouth water and she decided to buy some sweets and enjoy them.

The girl approached the shopkeeper and said, ‘Give me ten rupees’ worth of sweets, uncle ‘Why
not?’ replied the shopkeeper. In fact, he had seen the tender age of the girl and decided to give
          her a short measure.
Weighing the sweets, he put them in a paper bag and handed them across to the girl. The girl had
seen that the shopkeeper had given her a short measure. So she said by way of complaint, ‘Why
have you given me a short measure?’

‘No matter young girl! You will have less to carry,’ retorted the shopkeeper. The intelligent girl
pretended to laugh it away. But while paying for the sweets, she gave the shopkeeper only nine
rupees. The shopkeeper counted the money and said by way of complaint, ‘Why have you paid me
          one rupee less?’
‘No matter, uncle! you will have less to count,’ said the girl. The shopkeeper had no words to reply.
She felt ashamed as well. So, without speaking a single word, he put the money in his box. The girl
left the place laughing merrily. She had paid the shopkeeper back in her own coin.
