Mother : Every Hindu household has a Tulsi plant that they worship. We also have one.

You will hear short extracts of five people talking about Indian classical dances.
Speaker 1: Performing arts like classical dances are integral parts of Indian culture. The
eight classical dance forms recognised by the Sangeet Natak Akademi and the
Ministry of Culture are: Bharatanatyam from Tamil Nadu, Kathak from Northern
and Western India, Kathakali and Mohiniyattam from Kerala, Kuchipudi from
Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Odissi from Odisha, Sattriya from Assam, and
                      Manipuri from Manipur.
Speaker 2: Dance is the most enjoyable way of exercising. Regular dancing is great for
maintaining strong bones, improving posture, and muscle strength. It also
increases balance and co-ordination, and reduces stress. The best thing about
dancing is that while you’re having fun, moving to the beats of music, you’re
getting all the health benefits of exercising.
Speaker 3: Most of the classical dance forms have originated in temples. Worship was the
main aim. Although every dance form is evolved from different regions, their roots
are the same. The roots can be traced to the Sanskrit text — ‘Natya Shastra’.
As time passed, artistes improvised the classical dances which resulted in a variety
of dance forms in the present day. Today, Indian classical dances are very popular
                      all over the world.

Speaker 4: As most Indian classical dances are based on mythology and ancient scriptures,
we also get to learn about the Indian literature and cultural heritage. Unlike folk
dances, classical dances are all about strict rules and technicalities which include
body movements, eye movements, rasa, bhava, etc.
Speaker 5: Everybody loves dancing as it breaks you free from the mundane lifestyle. No
matter where you are, dancers are great people to spend time with. There are
many Bollywood numbers that are based on Indian classical dances and people
have appreciated them immensely. Many movie stars have been accomplished
                      classical dancers, too.
