25 seconds Examiner: Thank you. Now let’s go to the next task.
I am going to give you a scenario which has information about a problem.

I would like you to reflect upon it and then discuss together how you are
going to solve the problem. Then role play to work out the solution.
You have 2 minutes to do this. Here is your scenario with the problem.

Problem-solving card: When your parents were away, you and your brother
were playing cricket in the house. While playing, the ball hit the glass vase
and it broke. It was your mother’s favourite vase. You cleaned up the mess,
but you are worried how to tell your parents about it.
Role play the scenario suggesting possible ways to confront this problem.
Aditya and Sanjana study the scenario (20 seconds), then the examiner asks
                        them to start speaking.
2 minutes Aditya and Sanjana role play the scenario to reach a solution.
35 seconds Examiner: OK, you can stop now please.
Option A (for candidates who have found a solution):
Thank you. (Move straight on to a question)

Option B (for candidates who have not reached a solution):
Can you agree on a solution? What is it?
                        Aditya and Sanjana explain.
Then examiner asks 1–2 follow-up questions.
For example: At what solution have you arrived?
Why do you think this solution will be effective?

Do you think your mother will forgive you?
Examiner: Please stop there. That’s the end of the test.
                        Thank you and goodbye. 381
