Can you agree on a solution? What is it?
Abdul and Abhishek explain.
Then examiner asks 1–2 follow-up questions.
For example: What solution have you arrived at for the problem?
Why do you think this solution will be effective?
What important role can you play in this problem?
Examiner: Please stop there. That is the end of the test.

Task 4 Role Play (4 minutes)
The teacher will divide you into groups of four and ask you to present your views and have
an open talk on the topic ‘Should schools focus more on studies or extracurricular activities’.
Four role cards are given below. Each of you will be allotted a role from them. Take your
cues from the cards and build your argument further enhancing your points. The person
playing the expert will ensure that everyone gets equal time to present their views.
Time for preparation: 10 minutes; Time for performance: 4 minutes
Role Card 1: Parent
³ Extracurricular activities are just a waste of time. Children come to school to study and
not play.
³ In earlier times, focus was more on studies and those people had a better knowledge
base than today’s generation.
Role Card 2: Teacher
³ Extracurricular activities help in overall development of the students.
³ The physical development of the students is as important as their mental development.
³ Extracurricular activities make the students outgoing and prepare them for the challenges
of life in a better way.
Role Card 3: Student
³ Extracurricular activities invigorate us. They help us to think out of the box.
