        Division

Division means distributing something into equal parts or groups. It is a way of
        sharing things equally.

        Equal Sharing

On her birthday, Reema wants to distribute 10 chocolates to her five friends.

She gave one chocolate to each of them. She is still left with some chocolates.
She again gave one chocolate to each of them. Now she has no chocolate left.

This means, 10 chocolates have been distributed equally among 5 friends giving
        2 chocolates to each one.

                     Rekha Sonam Anuj Ravi Pinky

                         2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 10

We say 10 divided by 5 equals 2.

                                                          The number to be divided

                                   10 ÷ 5 = 2 The number in each group

                                                          The number of groups

‘÷’ is the symbol of division.

        Equal Grouping

Shabnam has 6 apples with her. She wants to distribute two apples each among

her three friends. She gives 2 apples to each friend.

                   Reena Sahil Roohi

This means, if she gives 2 apples to each friend, then 6 apples can be divided
        among 3 friends.

We say 6 divided by 3 equals 2.

                              6 ÷ 3 = 2
