Division 99

        Division Facts

We know, Dividend ÷ Divisor = Quotient

                              12 ÷ 4 = 3

Fact 1: Division is opposite of multiplication.

                    If 6 × 3 = 18, then 18 ÷ 3 = 6 and 18 ÷ 6 = 3

Fact 2: When a number is divided by 1, we always get the number itself as quotient.

                                                         5 ÷ 1 = 5

Fact 3: When a number is divided by itself, we always get 1 as quotient.

                                                         6 ÷ 6 = 1

Fact 4: When we divide 0 by any number, we always get 0 as quotient.

                                                         0 ÷ 3 = 0

              Divide the following.

          16 ÷ 1 = 0 ÷ 23 = 16 ÷ 16 =

          8 ÷ 1 = 24 ÷ 1 = 18 ÷ 18 =

          45 ÷ 45 = 0 ÷ 19 = 9 ÷ 1 =

Write two division facts for each of the following. One is done for you.

            Multiplication fact Division facts

                   5 × 8 = 40 40 ÷ 5 = 8 40 ÷ 8 = 5

                   4 × 5 = 20 ÷ = ÷ =

                   3 × 9 = 27 ÷ = ÷ =

                   8 × 2 = 16 ÷ = ÷ =
