When we divide any number by 100

● The number formed by digits at tens place and ones place becomes the remainder.

● The remaining part of the number becomes the quotient.

Divide 934 by 100 9 Divide 7364 by 100 7 3
100 9 3 4 100 7 3 6 4

Quotient = 9 – 9 0 0 Quotient = 73 – 7 0 0

Remainder = 34 3 4 Remainder = 64 3 6 4

● The number formed by digits at hundreds place, tens place and ones place becomes
the remainder.

● The remaining part of the number becomes the quotient.

Divide 5630 by 1000 5 Divide 9999 by 1000 9
1000 5 6 3 0 1000 9 9 9 9

Quotient = 5 – 5 0 0 0 Quotient = 9 – 9 0 0 0

Remainder = 630 6 3 0 Remainder = 999 9 9 9
