When we divide any number by 100

� The number formed by digits at tens place and ones place becomes the remainder.

� The remaining part of the number becomes the quotient.
Divide 934 by 100 Divide 7364 by 100

Quotient = 9, Remainder = 34

Quotient = 73, Remainder = 64

When we divide any number by 1000

� The number formed by digits at hundreds place, tens place and ones place becomes
the remainder.

� The remaining part of the number becomes the quotient.
Divide 5630 by 1000 Divide 9999 by 1000

– 5 0 0 0 – 9 0 0 0
6 3 0 9 9 9

Quotient = 5, Remainder = 630 Quotient = 9, Remainder = 999
