Multiplication 69

              Let’s Attempt

Example 1: There are 6 wheels in a bus. How many wheels will Th H T O
                         there be in 235 such buses? 2 3 5
        Solution: Number of wheels in 1 bus = 6 × 6

                           Number of wheels in 235 buses = 235 × 6 = 1410 1 4 1 0

Thus, 235 buses will have 1410 wheels.
        Example 2: A box has a dozen chocolates. How many chocolates H T O
are there in 47 such boxes? 4 7

        Solution: 1 dozen = 12 × 1 2
                         Number of chocolates in 1 box = 12 4 9 4
                                                                                                               0
                                                                                                           7
                           Number of chocolates in 47 boxes = 47 × 12 = 564 5 6 4
Thus, there are 564 chocolates in 47 boxes.

Example 3: The number of seats in a aeroplane is 148. How many Th H T O
people can travel in 16 such aeroplanes? 1 4 8

        Solution: Number of seats in each aeroplane = 148 × 1 6
                         Number of aeroplanes = 16 1 8 8 8
                                                                                                            8
                                                                                                        4
                                                                                                                 0
                         Number of seats in 16 aeroplanes = 148 × 16 = 2368 2 3 6 8
Thus, 2368 people can travel in 16 such aeroplanes.
