Multiplication of 3-digit Number by 2-digit Number

Let us multiply 274 by 18.

Arrange the numbers as per their place values and follow these steps:

Step 1: Multiply 274 by 8.

274 × 8 = 2192 2 7 4

Write 2192 in first row. × 1 8 10 + 8

2 1 9 2 274 × 8
Step 2: Multiply 274 by 10. + 2 7 4 0 274 × 10

274 × 10 = 2740 4 9 3 2

Write 2740 in second row.

Step 3: Add the two numbers in both the rows.

2192 + 2740 = 4932

Thus, 274 × 18 = 4932
