Introduction to Graphs 215
Tabulating the coordinates, we get The graph will be as shown below:
x 0 1 2 3 4 5
y 0 1 4 9 16 25
Following conclusions are drawn
from the graph:
the graph is a curve.
as the length of the side increases,
area of square also increases.
P × R × T
Example 3: The formula for simple interest is given by: S.I. =
100
Where, P = Principal; R = Rate of interest per annum; T = Time in years
Draw the graph of simple interest on ` 100 at the rate of 5% per annum.
Solution: Let the number of years be ‘x’ and simple interest be ‘y’.
According to the formula The graph will be as shown below:
100 5×× x
y =
100
⇒ y = 5x
If x = 1 ⇒ y = 5 × 1 = 5
x = 2 ⇒ y = 5 × 2 = 10
x = 3 ⇒ y = 5 × 3 = 15
x = 4 ⇒ y = 5 × 4 = 20
Tabulating the coordinates, we get
x 1 2 3 4
y 5 10 15 20
