           1. What are mixed fractions? If regular hexagon represents one whole, find
the mixed fraction representing the combination given in Fig 1.
                                                                                                    Fig 1.

           2. What are equivalent fractions? Four-eighths of the circle and one-half of

the triangle shown in the given figure are shaded. How are the two figures
shown in Fig 2. alike? How are they different?
                                                                   3
           3. Shade the given circles so as to represent the fraction . Fig 2.
                                                                   5

           4. Figure shows preferences of the students during breakfast in a hostel mess. Based on the given data, answer
               the following:
                                                                                     Milk 1 1 Coffee
             (i) Whose number is greater, milk drinkers or coffee drinkers 3 4
and by what fraction? Juice 1 1 1 Mango shake

(ii) If the total number of students enrolled in the mess are 420,
find the number of students who take tea.
                                                                                          Fraction of total

(iii) Find the total number of students who prefer either juice or mango shake. Is it equal to coffee drinkers?

Objective: To recapitulate the concept of equivalent fraction through an activity.

        Pre-Requisite Knowledge: Concept of Fractions

Materials Required: A pencil, coloured paper, a pair of scissors

Procedure: 1. Take a rectangular piece of paper and cut it in a size shown in figure.
                     2. Cut two more coloured paper of the same size.
                     3. Draw lines with the help of pencil as shown in figure.
