Properties of Division
 When a number is divided by 1, we get 5 ÷ 1 = 5
the number itself as the answer.
 When a number is divided by itself, we 6 ÷ 6 = 1
always get 1 as the answer.
 When we divide 0 by any number, we 0 ÷ 3 = 0
always get 0 as the answer.
Divide the following.
(a) 14 ÷ 1 = (b) 6 ÷ 6 = (c) 13 ÷ 13 =
(d) 0 ÷ 17 = (e) 0 ÷ 8 = (f) 20 ÷ 1 =
Fill in the missing numbers.
(a) 19 ÷ = 1 (b) 23 ÷ 23 = (c) ÷ 1 = 23
(d) ÷ 15 = 1 (e) ÷ 14 = 0 (f) 5 ÷ = 5
Division as Opposite of Multiplication
Every multiplication fact (except when the number is multiplied by itself)
gives us two division facts.
Multiplication Fact Division Facts
Fact-o-meter
24 ÷ 4 = 6 When we multiply a number by
4 × 6 = 24 itself, for example, 4 × 4 = 16,
24 ÷ 6 = 4 we get the same division facts
16 ÷ 4 = 4.
