Challenge

Long Method of Division

Let us divide 72 by 8.
Step 1: Write 72 ÷ 8 as shown. 8 72
Step 2: Recall the multiplication
table of 8 till we get the
number 72. Write 9 in place
of quotient.
Step 3: 8 × 9 = 72. Write 72 below 72 Divisor 9 Quotient
and subtract to get zero. 8 72 Dividend
– 72
So, 72 ÷ 8 = 9. 0
