Women are pillars of strength and courage who have served as a source of pride for our country for
generations.
These women have made a mark in different fields. Read the descriptions and write their names.
1. She is an Indian American business executive and former
PepsiCo CEO and chairperson. She has consistently been
listed among the world’s top 100 most powerful women.

2. She is a Hindustani classical singer. She has performed
in various musical styles and is also a songwriter and Kiran M. Shaw
composer. She has been awarded the Padma Shri for her
contribution.

3. She is a poet, social activist and environmentalist. She Sugatha Kumari
played a prominent role in the Save Silent Valley protest
in Kerala. She is the founder of Abhayagramam, a day
care centre for poverty-stricken women.

4. She is the first woman to become a project director at the Shubha Mudgal
Indian Space Research Organisation. Her team designed
and developed the communications satellite GSAT-12.

5. She is a social activist and the founder of the Self-
Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) of India. She Nirupama Rao
works to empower women through entrepreneurship at
the grassroots level.

6. She studied biotechnology and then started her own
company, Biocon. It is now one of India’s biggest Chitra Ramakrishna
pharmaceutical companies. She is also the founder of

India’s ambassador to China and the High Commissioner
in Sri Lanka. She was the second woman to become the
Foreign Secretary of India.
