                (1)  In  modern  America,  many  of  today’s  major  health  issues  can  be  traced  back  to  a
                     poor  diet.  People  who  consume  foods  heavy  in  sodium,  sugar,  and  saturated  fats
                     on a daily basis are more likely to become obese, as well as face increased risk for
                     heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, and a variety of cancers. Although some who
                     consume unhealthy foods on a regular basis do so consciously, a large section of the
                     public  is  still  uninformed  about  optimal  nutrition.  Furthermore,  people  who  live  in
                     food deserts—areas in low-income neighbourhoods where healthy, inexpensive food
                     is difficult to come by—may be unable to obtain nutritious food.
                (2)  Food  deserts  are  found  in  places  with  significant  levels  of  poverty,  such  as  sparsely
                     populated  rural  areas  or  highly  populated,  low-income  urban  areas.  Major  grocery
