Hard Disk
A Hard Disk is a computer’s main storage
device. It is installed within the CPU box.
It is made up of one or more round, thin
metallic disks that have been coated with
magnetic material and are housed in a Hard disk Portable hard disk
metallic box. The storage capacity of hard disks ranges from 500 GB to 20 TB.
A portable hard disk can be connected externally to a computer and carried anywhere.
Portable hard disks typically come in storage capacities ranging from 500 GB to 5 TB.
Solid-State Disk (SSD)
A Solid-State Disk (SSD) is similar to a hard disk but has no moving
parts. Its read and write speed is significantly faster than that of
a standard hard disk. It can be installed within the CPU box or
linked externally. SSD storage capacities range from 128 GB to
30 TB.
Compact Disc (CD)
A Compact Disc (CD) can store a small amount of information. It is
often used to store videos, music, and documents. A CD typically
has a storage capacity of 700 MB. These are not in common use

Digital Versatile Disc (DVD)
A Digital Versatile Disc (DVD) can store more data than
a standard CD. A DVD’s storage capacity ranges from 4.7
GB to 25 GB.
DVD drive There are three types of DVDs available: DVD ROMs,
which can only be read, DVD-Rs, on which data can be written only once, and DVD-
RWs, on which data can be deleted and written multiple times.
DVD drives can read and write data from both DVDs and CDs.
Blu-Ray Disc (BD)
A Blu-ray Disc (BD) can store a large amount of data and is written with
laser technology. A Blu-ray disc’s storage capacity is typically between
25 GB and 100 GB. It is used to save high-resolution videos and movies.
It is accessible via a Blu-ray drive.
