Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) Reader
An OMR Reader is an input device used to scan and

read special forms, designed with boxes or circles,
which can be marked with a pencil or pen. It uses
the light reflected from the form to determine the

presence or absence of a mark. An OMR Reader
has the advantage of being highly accurate, cost-
effective, and capable of handling large number of
documents quickly. It is usually used for scanning answer sheets of exams that
            have multiple choice questions.

                                       Optical Character Recognition (OCR) Reader
An OCR Reader is an input device used to scan printed text

documents such as books and magazines and convert them
into digital files that can be edited easily on a computer.
Organisations use OCR readers to scan printed forms for
automated data entry into a database in the computer.

            Magnetic Stripe Card Reader
A Magnetic Stripe Card Reader is an input device used to

read information encoded in the magnetic stripe located
at the back of cards, such as credit cards, loyalty cards, and
membership cards. Such devices are used in shops and stores
to read information on a credit or debit card during payments.

                                       Biometric Devices

A Biometric Device is used to measure unique physical
characteristics of a person, such as fingerprint or iris pattern.
A record of these characteristics is stored in a database. The

identity of a person can be determined by scanning the
finger or eye and matching the results of the scan with the
records in the database. Biometric devices are used to mark
attendance in offices and provide entry to authorised users. Modern computers,
such as smartphones and laptops, also have biometric devices in-built to enable

security and privacy of the device.
