SEQUENCE OF STEPS
Most activities have multiple steps that need to be carried out in order to perform
a task involved. The order of steps for solving a problem is called Sequence of steps.
Some tasks involve a fixed sequence of steps. For example, to change the used
battery in a clock, the sequence of steps to be performed is:
1. Remove the exhausted battery from the clock.
2. Take a fresh battery and install it in the clock.
3. Set the correct time on the clock.
4. Dispose the used battery carefully in the dustbin.

You need to prepare for a Maths exam. The steps for the task are given below. Write
numbers 1, 2, 3… in front of the steps to arrange them in the correct sequence to follow.
• Practice as many problems by solving them on paper. ________
• Check the syllabus for the exam. ________
• Collect your books and notebooks. ________
• Revise key points and formulas again. ________
• Go through the material related to the chapters coming in the exam. ________
Some tasks have steps that can be carried out in different sequences but produce
the same result.
For example, to make a drawing of a robot, the sequence of steps to follow can be
any one of the two given below:
