Blocks Palette
Blocks are puzzle-piece shapes used to create a project in Scratch. Each block represents
an instruction for a sprite. The Blocks Palette displays the various blocks divided into
several categories of blocks. The blocks in the same category are of the same colour.
Coding Area
The Coding Area, also called the Scripts Area, is where different blocks are combined
to create a script for a sprite in a project.
Tabs
There are three tabs in Scratch 3. These are:
• Code Tab: This tab consists of the Blocks Palette and the Coding Area.
• Costumes Tab: This tab displays a list of costumes for a selected sprite and
provides options to add new costumes for the sprite. It also displays the Paint
Editor where you can edit an existing costume or create new costumes.
• Sounds Tab: This tab displays a list of sounds for a sprite and provides options
to add more sounds. It also displays the Sound Editor where you can play and
edit a selected sound.
