Number Keys
The Number keys are used to type numbers. They are present at two places on the
keyboard – above the Alphabet keys and on the right hand side of the keyboard.
The set of Number keys on the right hand side is called the Numeric Keypad.
The numbers of the Numeric Keypad work only when the Num Lock key is ON. When
the Num Lock is ON, a light glows on the top right corner of the keyboard. To switch
it ON, press the Num Lock key once.
Special Keys
There are many special keys and each one of them has its own function.
Backspace Key
This key is used to delete characters on the left side of the cursor. The cursor is the blinking line on the screen.

Spacebar Key
This key is used to give space between the words. It is the longest key on the keyboard. Press it once to give a
space of single letter. The cursor moves forward leaving a blank space.
Enter Key
This key is used to start a new line while typing. The cursor moves to the new line when we press this key. The
Enter key is present at two places—near the Alphabet keys and in the Numeric keypad.

Caps Lock Key
This key is used to type capital letters. Press the Caps Lock key once to switch it ON. A light glows above the
numeric keypad. Now, all the letters will appear in capital.

To switch OFF the Caps Lock key, press it once again. The light goes OFF and now we can type small letters
again.
