A Tale of a Jackal
One day a jackal was limping about with a thorn in his paw. On the way, he met an old
woman and he humbly asked, “Grandma, would you please pull out this thorn from my
paw?”
The old woman pitied on the jackal and did so. The jackal thanked her and went away.
However, the jackal soon came back and asked her to give him the thorn.
Writing Skills The jackal jumped up and cried, “I need it. I need it very much.”
The old woman said, “I have thrown it away, I know not where.”
The old woman felt sorry for the jackal and gave him an egg. The jackal took the egg and
ran away with it.
Then he came to a village and knocked at the door of the first house. An old man opened
the door and taking pity on the jackal let him in.
The jackal came in and requested the man, “Please keep this precious egg of mine safely.”
At night the jackal got up, ate the egg and put the shell back on the plate. In the morning,
the jackal asked the man “Where is my egg? Your cat must have eaten my precious egg.”
