E. Read the following passage carefully.
God created the Earth. He created beasts, birds and fish. He created men and women. He made
all sorts of things. One day, He asked all the small birds to stand in a queue before Him. He
wanted to paint their coats in many beautiful colours. A small goldfinch was standing at the
end of the queue. It was a very long queue. The bird could not have patience. She hopped this
way and looked that way. She said, ‘‘It will be long before my turn comes. I’ll fly in the sky for
a little while. Then I’ll come back and wait my turn. No one will miss me.’’
Out she flew into the blue sky. She had a lot of fun. She flew all day. Then she remembered that
she had to get back. She flew back, but there were no birds over there. God had finished His
work. He was now washing the brushes.
The small goldfinch sat on a tree and began to weep. God saw her and asked her, ‘‘Little bird,
why are you weeping?’’ The goldfinch said, ‘‘I am late. There is no colour left for my coat now.’’
God said, ‘‘Don’t weep. I’ll find some colours for your coat.’’
There was no colour left in the pots. So He picked up drops of many colours from the ground,
and touched the coat of the bird with them. Soon it was full of rich and nice colours. The
goldfinch became very proud and happy. She thanked God and flew away merrily.
