          Let’s Learn Simple Tenses


        The simple tense of a verb tells us the time of an event or action, in present, past, and future.

        Uses of Simple Present Tense

        The simple present tense is used to talk about:

          a general truth. For example:
               The sun rises in the east.
            l
          a routine, custom, action or habit. For example:
               I brush my teeth before going to bed.
            l

        Formation of Simple Present Tense
        When the subject is singular, we add –e, -es or –ies to the root form of the verb. For example:

               Mohan runs in the park.                         She stitches the school dresses.

        When the subject is plural, we use the root form of the verb.

               I run fast.                                     They play cricket.
