A. Read the essay on the topic ‘A Visit to Taj Mahal’.
A Visit to Taj Mahal
It shows love for history when a person visits a historical place. For an ordinary man, it is just a
building of bricks and clay. But it means a lot to a student of history. A student of history sees
the building minutely and comes to know about the glory of the age in which it was built. We
also know about the king more than we can learn from reading a book.
One of my uncles lives in Agra. Last month, he visited us. He praised the Taj Mahal a lot. A
curiosity aroused in me to see the Taj Mahal. So I accompanied my uncle to Agra. He took me
to see the various historical buildings in Agra. I saw the Red Fort, but I liked the Taj Mahal the
most.
It was built by Shah Jahan in the memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal.Twenty-thousand
workers worked on it, and they took twenty years to build it. It stands on a raised platform
on the bank of River Yamuna. There is a big hall in the centre of the building. Each corner of
the platform has a minaret. It looks wonderful on a moonlit night. It is really a praiseworthy
architectural marvel.
B. Read the essay on the topic ‘An Accident on the Road’.
An Accident on the Road
The road in front of my house is a narrow one. It is also very busy. Every morning when people
go to their offices, the road becomes almost impassable as people, bicycles, motorcycles, and

autos. Just then I saw a young girl on her scooty make a dash across the road. There was a
loud blare of horn, a squeal of brakes, and I saw a car knocked into the girl’s scooty. She fell as
though her leg was broken.
Fortunately, the car was not moving very fast and the driver managed to stop the car on time.
All traffic stopped. I ran over to see the girl. She was bleeding from a cut on her knee. A man
came and examined the girl. Then he lifted and carried her to his car. They sped off to the
hospital.
There was nothing I could do, so I turned and walked down the road carefully. It was terrible
to see such an accident on the road.
